The California Coastal Commission’s Whale Tail Grant Program awards Healing Waters Wilderness Adventures a nearly $13,000 grant!
We are pleased to announce that The Whale Tail Grant program awarded a nearly $13,000 grant to Healing Waters Wilderness Adventures (HWWA). This generous funding was used to provide 16 under-resourced immigrant students and three of their teachers from a Bay Area high school on a 6-day science-wilderness adventure to the Klamath River in northern California. Students participated in science and ecology lessons while rafting down the Klamath River on a four-day expedition. They ended the trip by traveling to the mouth of the Klamath River, where they explored and learned about the water cycle and coastal ecosystem. Students left the trip feeling a deep connection to the river, a clear understanding of river ecosystems, and leave-no-trace camping skills. We are grateful for the support of the Whale Tail Grant, which enabled these students to participate in this enriching experience at no cost.
